Quilts of Valor - #4

This top was a large star that had a lot of negative space.  Normally a dream for longarmers, but it scared me just a bit!  Being fairly new to this, it felt like the negative spaces were about a mile long and I had to come up with the perfect design for each one.  Then I realized it'll all be ok, and just went with it!  I broke it up into the different concentric areas and came up with a pattern for each.  Overall I'm pretty happy with it :)

I used a wood grain pattern for the largest cream areas, a lotus flower for the outside HST border, straight lines and hook swirls for the large blue triangles, swirls for the medium cream areas, flame-type design for the red triangles, pebbles for the smallest cream areas, and a sun design for the center star.
