Quilts of Valor - #16

I did an all over custom job on this Quilts of Valor.  A hook swirl is used on every other row of tumblers, with angular lines between those rows.  A reversing feather was used on the white border and then a regular feather for the outside border.  Thread was red, white, and blue Glide threads, with Quilters Dream blend and wool battings.  Hope you like it!

Quilts of Valor - #15

Some freehand feathers around the border and stippled center for this lovely signature quilt for Quilts of Valor.  Love it!!

Quilts of Valor - #14

This one had some custom quilting throughout.  I'm really liking how my feathers are looking!  I'm trying to get better pictures of the quilting, camera was being fussy.  Enjoy!

Quilts of Valor - #13

This quilt got a traditional Baptist fan pattern using a groove-type board from RNS-designs.com

Quilts of Valor - #12

This Quilts of Valor had a border of free-hand feathers with large, what I call, water lilies on the main blocks.  I'm pretty happy with how the feathers turned out, I think they're the first official feathers to make it on an actual quilt and not just practice fabric!

Quilts of Valor - #11

Next up is an all over pantograph called Marmalade.  I got better on quilting this pattern on this quilt from the one in the previous post.  I'm loving it!!

Quilts of Valor - #10

For this next Quilts of Valor quilt, I used an all-over wave motif that I saw in one of Angela Walters' books.  I love how it turned out!!

Quilts of Valor - #9

I chose to do an all-over wood grain pattern for this quilt.  I loved how it turned out!! It's a different quilting motif that really fits with the wonky style of the blocks.

Quilts of Valor - #8

This was a very nice signature quilt that was filled with wonderful sentiments to whoever receives this quilt. I used a leaf motif between each of the signature blocks, loops in the white and red borders, and then arches in the blue border.

Quilts of Valor - #7

Used a new technique for me for the boarder, inspired by a class that I took at a longarmers convention recently.  And I love it!  I also did stand alone star motifs and an all over swirl pattern.  You can really see the stars show up in the pictures of the back.

Quilts of Valor - #5

Completed the next Quilts of Valor!  This one was a drunkard's path variation with some stars.  I did some free handed custom quilting which included Baptist Fan quilting to create some movement in the red stripes and some various sizes of swirls for the white stripes.  For the star area, there was some negative space where I created stars to mirror the pieced stars and filled in with pebbles.  Stipple border finishes up the quilting :)

Quilts of Valor - #4

This top was a large star that had a lot of negative space.  Normally a dream for longarmers, but it scared me just a bit!  Being fairly new to this, it felt like the negative spaces were about a mile long and I had to come up with the perfect design for each one.  Then I realized it'll all be ok, and just went with it!  I broke it up into the different concentric areas and came up with a pattern for each.  Overall I'm pretty happy with it :)
