My prices are based on the size of your quilt and the complexity of the pattern.  All of my quilting is done by a hand guided machine and not by an automated system, so there will be a certain amount of 'homemade' feel to the quilting pattern and it will not be absolutely perfect.

I am currently offering edge to edge, semi-custom, and custom quilting.  Edge to edge is one simple pattern over your entire quilt with one thread color.  Cost is $0.02 per square inch.  Semi-custom is a unique border pattern and an edge to edge design for the center of the quilt; cost starts at $0.03 per square inch.  Custom incorporates unique block designs, stitch in the ditch, etc. and cost starts at $0.05 per square inch.

Minimum quilting charge of $50 per quilt.

Batting:
Quality batting is available and can be purchased from me for best results.  Currently, I offer a 70/30 (70% cotton and 30% polyester) blend and wool batting, both Quilters Dream.  It is preferred that you purchase your batting through me but I am willing to work with batting provided by you.  If you provide the batting, it must be at least 6 inches wider and 6 inches longer than your top.

  • Quilters Dream 70/30 Blend - 96" width at $10/yd
  • Quilters Dream Wool - 96" width at $14/yd

Thread:
There is a normal fee for thread at $2 per bobbin used.  Additional charges apply for multiple thread colors on one quilt ($5 per color change).  Typical thread charge for a queen sized quilt is between $8 and $12 for a simple Edge to Edge pattern, and will vary depending on the density of the pattern.

Trimming:
I can trim your quilt for $10 for twin size and smaller, $20 for queen and king size, once it has been quilted.

Binding:
If you provide the binding material, I can make and attach (machine attach to front, hand blind stitch to the back) at $0.30 per linear inch.  Trimming fees will also apply.

Quilt Top Preparation:
To help make sure you get a quality finished product and minimize your cost, please do these things to help me out:

  • Your top must be clean, pressed well making sure all seams are pressed flat, points and threads clipped and removed or they may show through later.  Remove pins or basting threads.

  • Try to prevent wavy borders. See below for a good link about the correct way to attach borders on your quilt. This is probably the biggest issue that I run across.

  • Make sure the quilt top is pressed and lays flat to prevent puckering.

  • Square-up and trim quilt top to its final size - measuring the same amount in 3 places in both directions.

  • Measure, square, and press your backing fabric - it should measure at least 8 inches larger than your top.
Here's a great article about reducing the wavy borders in your quilt.  It really does make a difference on how you attach your borders and the overall quality to the finished quilt, please check this out:

**Please note, if you send me a quilt top, you are giving consent to me to use pictures of your quilt on my blog, facebook, etc., unless you specifically ask me not to.  I understand that sometimes you want you quilt kept a secret until you give it away to someone special!
