Phyllis's Mariner's Compass Quilt

Phew!! This one was a giant, clocking in at 118" x 118"!! Largest one I've ever quilted. Pieced by Phyllis, this pattern is called Mariner's Compass by Judy Niemeyer. I am extremely happy with how this one turned out, it's so gorgeous. Multiple colors of Glide thread by Fil-Tec were used, as well as Quilter's Dream batting. Now let's get to the pictures!

Betty's Wool Christmas Tree

How fun is this quilt?!  So colorful and full of life.  Custom quilting was the perfect fit to really highlight that handwork that went into making this top. I outline the wool pieces to help stabilize them as well as it making them pop even more.  The trunk received a little extra stabilizing which are the horizontal lines. I used clear monofilament thread to help create texture without overwhelming the top with another color, or trying to match one thread color for the entire top, which wouldn't really be possible. With the clear thread, you don't have to worry about clashing colors when moving from one area of color to the next.  All in all, I love this quilt and am very pleased with how it turned out.  Enjoy!

Valerie's Crazy Cats

This quilt was pieced by Valerie and is a modification of the Buggy Barn Crazy Cats pattern.  It received a custom quilting design and I think it turned out absolutely fabulous!!  I stuck to more traditional quilting motifs to match the pattern and fabrics.  Dense quilting that matched the fabric designs really pulled the look together.
