Butterfly Quilt - The Saga

So I agreed to make a quilt for a friend, oh about 6 months ago or so.  She loved butterflies and purple and that was what I had to go by.  I roamed the internet and came across the Butterfly Quilt by Tula Pink and thought it was perfect.  I like challenging myself and this one definitely would.  I mean, CURVED SEAMS!!, and lots of them.  (Psst, I had never sewn a circle before, don't tell anyone).

This one was quite the adventure... At time I thought I was over my head... At times I loved it... At times I screamed.  But I stuck with it and now I am so proud of it and it'll be hard to give it away.

Owl Baby Quilt

I saw this panel online the other day and decided to order it to practice some different free motion quilting ideas on (Angela Walters says, practice practice, practice!!).  I used a wood grain pattern for the tree, swirls and pebbles for the top of the tree, semi circles for the feathers of the owls, a pointy geometric allover for the grass, and some other stuff.  I think it turned out aiiight :)

IG Mini Swap - Finally a Post!

OK... so my IG mini swap partner received her mini over a month ago and I'm just not getting around to posting some pictures of it.  That holidays are busy!!  She loves squirrels, peacock feathers and Tula Pink so that was what I had to go with and came up with this design.  Piecing and quilting by me.  Enjoy!

Quilts of Valor - #5

Completed the next Quilts of Valor!  This one was a drunkard's path variation with some stars.  I did some free handed custom quilting which included Baptist Fan quilting to create some movement in the red stripes and some various sizes of swirls for the white stripes.  For the star area, there was some negative space where I created stars to mirror the pieced stars and filled in with pebbles.  Stipple border finishes up the quilting :)
