Quilts of Valor - #5

Completed the next Quilts of Valor!  This one was a drunkard's path variation with some stars.  I did some free handed custom quilting which included Baptist Fan quilting to create some movement in the red stripes and some various sizes of swirls for the white stripes.  For the star area, there was some negative space where I created stars to mirror the pieced stars and filled in with pebbles.  Stipple border finishes up the quilting :)

Quilts of Valor - #4

This top was a large star that had a lot of negative space.  Normally a dream for longarmers, but it scared me just a bit!  Being fairly new to this, it felt like the negative spaces were about a mile long and I had to come up with the perfect design for each one.  Then I realized it'll all be ok, and just went with it!  I broke it up into the different concentric areas and came up with a pattern for each.  Overall I'm pretty happy with it :)

Quilts of Valor - #3

I just completed the next Quilts of Valor quilt, and I have to say, I love it.  It was my first free motion custom quilting and I think it went pretty well.  I went with large swirls for the top and bottom red borders, a tipsy star loop pattern for the blue border, stippling for the side stripe borders, echoing stars around the top flag printed fabric, and then a simple wave for the center flag-like motif.  But enough chit chat, on to pictures!!

Alice's Quilt

Here are some pictures of a quilt that I did recently for a client, Alice.  It was such a beautifully pieced top!

The before pictures were taken with my phone, so they're not the greatest, but here we go:
